A deputy from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department responded to Highway 11 in New Diggings Township Tuesday around 3:30pm for a two vehicle accident. 19 year old Brayden Gunnell of Shullsburg was traveling eastbound on Highway 11 when he crossed the center line striking the oncoming westbound vehicle head on, driven by 53 year old Tammy Vaassen of Cuba City. Gunnell’s vehicle had severe damage and was towed from the scene. The Benton Fire Department, Benton Police Department, Shullsburg Police Department, Hazel Green EMS and Shullsburg EMS assisted at the scene. Both Gunnell and Vaassen were taken by EMS for non life threatening injuries.
