The Iowa DOT is taking steps to bring a ferry service to Lansing, Iowa and De Soto, WI during the Black Hawk Bridge closure. The DOT is updating both the north and south driveways, including the railroad crossings due to an expected traffic increase at the marina according to the Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing Facebook page. Work on the North driveway starts Monday, Sept. 22 and will last about a week. Once that’s done, the crew will move to the south driveway on Monday, Sept. 29. Flaggers will be on-site to help guide traffic when needed. The earliest the bridge will close is October 15, and the DOT is still finalizing the ferry’s official start date.
