The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) announced the detection of bird flu in a dairy herd in Dodge County on Sunday, marking the first confirmed case in Wisconsin dairy cattle. The department has tested more than 24,000 samples for the disease, which had all been negative until this discovery, according to Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Assistant State Veterinarian Dr. Elisabeth Patton. Experts say pasteurized dairy products remain safe for consumption, despite the confirmed case.
