The Wisconsin and Iowa transportation departments announced the free car ferry at Lansing will close June 11-12 while workers float a pre-assembled bridge section downstream by barge and lift it into place. Construction crews will float the center span downstream Thursday morning, then lift the massive piece into place and connect it to bridge sections already built from both shores. The process will take several hours. The U.S. Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers will restrict all boat traffic around the construction site during the two-day closure.
