1 dead following Lafayette County crash

One person is dead following a rollover crash in Lafayette County. Shortly before 5 Pm on Thursday emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1400 block of Highway 23 in Willow springs for a one vehicle rollover crash. 77-year-old Lawrence Wedig of rural Darlington was driving on Highway 23 when he entered the ditch and struck an embankment causing the vehicle to roll and ejecting the driver. Wedig was transported to Lafayette Cuonty Hospiotal then transported by med flight to UW Hospital in Madison for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Wedig died at the hospital. The crash remains under investigation. This is Lafayette County’s third fatal motor vehicle crash of 2026.
