De Soto man killed in UTV rollover

An 81-year-old De Soto man died Monday afternoon when the UTV he was driving rolled over in Vernon County. Lester Flick was driving on private property in the Town of Wheatland around 4:30 p.m. when the crash happened. According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Flick was traveling down a steep hill when the UTV’s speed increased, causing it to flip and hit a tree. He was thrown from the vehicle and landed at the edge of the trail. Flick was pronounced dead at the scene. Early findings suggest Flick may have experienced a medical event rather than losing control of the vehicle. The UTV had rollover protection, but Flick was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
