Senator Marklein named “2026 Legislator of the Year”

Senator Howard Marklein was named the “2026 Legislator of the Year” by the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association. Senator Marklein was presented the award at the Platteville Fire Station for his work supporting local fire departments across Wisconsin this morning [Friday]. Sen. Marklein received the Award for his work during the 2025-2027 legislative session to support Wisconsin’s fire departments after he championed three successful pieces of legislation to bolster training options and provide funding and additional flexibility for local departments. He also authored a bill which protects fire department members from threats faced on the job.
