Multiple injured in head-on collision in Lafayette County

Multiple people were transported on Saturday following a head-on collision in Lafayette County. Saturday afternoon emergency personnel responded to County W in Benton Township for a two-vehicle accident. 57-year-old Dennis M. Enright of Independence IA was traveling eastbound on County W when he crossed the center line and hit an oncoming vehicle operated by 51-year-old William P. Wimmer of Kaycee WY, head on. Enright’s vehicle ignited in flames. Wimmer and his passenger reported minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Enright was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Enright was arrested for Causing Injury while Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense. Enright was also cited for Operating Left of Center. Both Wimmer’s 2017 Ford and Enright’s 2016 Subaru received disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
