Democratic third congressional candidate Rebecca Cooke made stops in Eau Claire, Stevens Point and Black River Falls Monday and stops in La Crosse, Viroqua and Sparta on Tuesday as part of her “Cooke Coming Together Tour.” Cooke said she is hearing frustrations from voters across Wisconsin and would focus on health care costs if elected in November. Current third congressional district Representative Derrick Van Orden responded to Cooke’s tour with criticism of her positions claiming that Cooke supports defunding the police, banning guns, and gender-transition procedures for minors. Van Orden also claimed that despite presenting a moderate image to voters, Cooke would align with what he called the “socialist left” if elected.
