Congressman Derrick Van Orden headlined the Grant County Fair Thursday evening, joining hundreds of residents for a night celebrating rural Wisconsin. Van Orden spoke at the fair’s Honoring Our Heroes event, recognizing local veterans for their service. The veterans program was the first of its kind at the fair, timed with America’s semiquincentennial. Van Orden then spent the rest of the evening throughout the fairgrounds talking with residents and visiting booths. Van Orden closed out the evening by addressing the crowd ahead of the Monster Truck Show, and said “It’s easy for Washington to overlook places like Grant County, but I never will. Our rural communities are the heart of Wisconsin, and I’ll fight to make sure our voices are heard and freedoms are protected.”
