Officers at the Platteville Police Department say you likely haven’t won millions of dollars from Publisher’s Clearing House. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, authorities have been alerted to scam phone calls across the community. Scammers will tell the victim they’ve won more than $2-million dollars and a car from Publisher’s Clearing House Prize Patrol. The callers will then try to get you to pay shipping and handling charges up front for the prizes. Officials remind you to never give out personal info, credit card data or banking account numbers over the phone unless you’re absolutely sure of who you’re dealing with. If it sounds too good to be true – it’s likely a scam.
