GREEN BAY, Wis. — Lambeau Field will continue to limit game day attendance to Packers employees and their families for the rest of the regular season.
The organization made the announcement in a news release Tuesday.
Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy said the decision was made because COVID-19 infection rates remain high in Brown County and throughout Wisconsin. According to the release, Green Bay has the fourth-highest infection rate among NFL cities.
A potential spike from the holidays has also been another reason the organization will not allow ticketed fans into the stadium.
“As always, the health and safety of our community, players and fans is our top priority,” Murphy said in a statement. “We appreciate the continued guidance from Bellin Health and the Brown County Public Health Department for advising us and, importantly, for the work they are doing to battle COVID.”
The stadium has hosted employees and their families for the past couple weeks.
“We are extremely proud of how seriously our players and employees have taken the virus and of the steps they have taken to avoid contracting it and infecting others,” Murphy said. “While Lambeau Field feels very different this year, we look forward to giving our fans watching from home some more great wins. We can’t wait to see packed stands again next season.”
Whether or not the team plans to allow fans at any potential home playoff games will be decided at a later date.
