One driver involved in a crash in Black Earth that shut down Highway 14 for hours was killed, and four other people, including three children were injured Wednesday The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at 2:15 p.m. to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 at Kahl Road. According to the report, a 26-year-old man was driving west on Highway 14 and crossed the centerline, hitting a vehicle head-on. The driver of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old woman from Mazomanie and her 3-year-old and 5-year-old grandchildren, were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dane County Medical Examiner. His backseat passenger, his 23-month-old daughter, was taken by Middleton EMS to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Highway 14 was shut down for about three hours while the crash was being investigated.
