Sentencing For Belmont Child Neglecting Father

A Belmont man will serve 15 years in prison after he was convicted on charges of neglecting his 2 young daughters. A Lafayette County judge’s sentence for 25-year-old Dalton Hopper also includes five more years each of extended supervision and probation. Along with that, Hopper is barred from having contact with his daughters and cannot contact any child under the age of 18 without approval. Medical officials reported finding that Hopper’s 4-month-old and 1-year-old daughters were both severely malnourished. His wife- 27-year-old Jamie Weigel- is scheduled to have a sentencing hearing next week on similar child neglect charges.
