An Illinois man escaped injury after his truck slid off the road and rolled on its side about 12:15 Monday afternoon. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Jeremiah Ray of Springfield was driving a box truck, trying to merge onto Highway 151 north in Platteville. According to a crash report, Ray’s truck hit some slush on the ramp at Exit 21 – which caused his vehicle to slide. He was unable to correct the vehicle and it left the side of the roadway. Officials say the box truck continued down a steep ditch and hit a culvert before rolling on its side – coming to rest about 70-feet off the road. The vehicle has moderate damage. Ray was wearing a seatbelt and wasn’t injured in the crash. Deputies say the truck is owned by Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center of Springfield. It was transporting office furniture at the time of the crash.
