Two women from Mineral Point will go to trial for the roles they played in the death of a teenage girl – who was found dead in May 2018. An Iowa County judge issued that ruling Tuesday against 50-year-old Laurie Barry and her daughter – 28-year-old Alexis Barry. They are both facing a charge of reckless homicide in connection to the death of 13-year-old Selah Kaden. The Barry’s were temporarily caring for Kaden, while her family in North Carolina attended to serious medical needs of another one of their children. Authorities say the child died from being beaten and suffocated over a period of time. An investigator testified that a medical exam showed the teen was dead for more than four hours before anyone called 911. Alexis and Laurie Barry are free on signature bonds. They’re required not to have contact with the victim’s parents.
