Following the departure of Karen Kurt in August, the City of Platteville has now hired a new City Manager. The Platteville Common Council has confirmed Adam Ruechel to take over the post starting on January 6th. He is currently the administrator for the Village of Marshall (Wis), a job Ruechel has held since 2017. Prior to that, he served as an assistant to the village administrator in Hobart (Wis.). Platteville Common Council President Barb Daus said of the hire that Ruechel showed strength in areas such as strategic planning, economic development and financial analysis. The council held a 2-day interview process with three finalists who were among 30 candidates that applied for the city manager job.
