A private investment firm from Washington DC says it has purchased a majority share of Nu-Pak and Prairie Industries. According to reports, the Halifax Group agreed to a deal with the NPPI owners last month. Combined, Nu-Pak and Prairie Industries, employ roughly 900 people. The company’s previous owner says those jobs are secure and that the operations are expected to stay the same at all facilities. Along with Nu-Pak in Boscobel, Prairie Industries has four locations- three of their sites are in Prairie du Chien with a 4th in Lansing. Employees were also given a big surprise shortly after learning about the sale. Every worker was given a $250-dollar bonus – for each year they’ve been at the company. That meant a more than $6-thousand-dollar bonus for any employee who had been with the business since it opened 25 years ago.
