Sunday’s rain has delayed the predicted end of the flood warning on the Mississippi River at Dubuque. The rain is keeping the river level above flood stage, which is 17 feet. The Mississippi River had crested at about 24.3 feet on April 29th at the railroad bridge. Forecasters had expected the river to drop below flood stage over the weekend, but heavy rains caused the river to rise. The river stood at 17.1 feet this morning. Dubuque will remain under a flood warning until the river drops below flood stage. Forecasters now expect that drop to occur sometime later today.
