The Madison Mallards postponed their game Sunday in the wake of the death of longtime Northwoods League umpire Conor McKenzie. McKenzie died following a car crash, the league announced. He had worked for the league since 2019 and umpired nearly 350 games, the most in league history. Team officials said McKenzie was set to call Sunday’s game between the Mallards and Wausau Woodchucks, and was on his way to Warner Park when the crash occurred. Two other umpires who were traveling with McKenzie are in stable condition. Sunday’s game was postponed to August 1st.
