A newly released five-year statewide plan includes funding for two major road projects in Jo Daviess County. Plans for the projects were outlined in an Illinois Department of Transportation 2024-2029 infrastructure improvement plan. They are part of a $1.7 billion investment in the northwest region. According to the report, the first project allocates $28.9 million toward the reconstruction of 4.1 miles along U.S. Highway 20 near Stockton as well as a related bridge replacement, culvert improvements and road realignments, among other project costs. The second project includes $15.2 million for reconstruction of 2.7 miles of U.S. Highway 20 just west of the Stephenson County line. Those funds will also cover land acquisition and construction engineering costs.
