On Wednesday, at about 10:40am, a construction crew working on the wall of a structure on East Main Street, in the Village of Browntown found 8 paper wrapped cylindrical items having the appearance of very old and abandoned commercially produced dynamite sticks or road flares. Green County Deputies and the Browntown Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, closed the street and asked nearby citizens to temporarily relocate for safety reasons. Assistance from the Dane County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad was requested. Poor material condition of the items made it difficult to determine their exact composition. The Bomb Squad recovered and removed the items for safe disposal. The area was reopened around 2:15pm.
