Platteville officials are narrowing in on a final site and design plan for the city’s fire station after previous plans proved too costly. Platteville Common Council members met in a special session this week to discuss the fire station and narrow the field of previously presented alternatives. They are expected to make a final decision next week. City Manager Clint Langreck recommended two one-story options for council consideration, one at the site of OE Gray Early Learning Center and another at the city’s industrial park. Regardless of site selection, the project is funded in part by a $7 million federal grant. Council members are expected to hear public comment and vote on the location and final design of the project at their regular meeting Tuesday.
