In the First Responder of the Year ceremony a Hazel Green man was honored for his 40 years of service.  David Shelliam, has served as a member of the Hazel Green Area Rescue Squad since 1995 and the Hazel Green Fire Department since 1983. He was selected by Representative Travis Tranel of Cuba City with the concurrence of Senator Howard Marklein of-Spring Green as the 49th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year because of his years of dedicated service and for displaying a selfless commitment to serving his community. Along with providing each award recipient with a legislative citation recognizing their achievement, the state Assembly also passed a resolution declaring October 17th First Responders Appreciation Day.
