A Dubuque man has been sentenced to one year in jail after he held a knife up to the neck of a toddler at a local park. 28-year-old Ricky Brooks received the sentence after pleading guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. As part of his plea deal, a charge of child endangerment was dropped. Court documents state that police investigators received a report July 24 that Brooks had held a knife up to the neck of a 2-year-old child sitting in a stroller July 20th at Jackson Park.
