Financial Fraud Uncovered in Prairie du Chien

On Friday at approximately 11 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office initially received a report of financial fraud at AT&T in Prairie du Chien. An investigation was conducted, and it was determined that an AT&T employee, 31 year old Jessica Berntgen of Bagley utilized a customer’s debit card without their permission to make purchases and pay-off debt, which included a citation in Grant County. Berntgen was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail on a charge of Financial Transaction Card Crimes. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Grant County Clerk of Courts and AT&T.
