If you swear your dog looks at the TV screen, and even reacts to certain programs, you’re not wrong. A new study out of the University of Wisconsin’s School of Veterinary Medicine is looking at what dogs like to watch and how we can use that to better understand how they see. Professor Freya Mowat, a veterinary ophthalmologist, asked respondents what TV programs made their dogs bark, run towards or away from the TV, hide, lie down, and other reactions. Mowat actually received 1,600 online survey responses, showing: “dogs like to watch dogs.” The whole study, published in the journal Applied Animal Behaviour Science is part of Mowat’s larger research into dog vision and how they see as they age.
