A man was sentenced to life in prison without parole Friday for a fatal shooting that happened in Dubuque last year. 25-year-old Aaron Johnson of Chicago, received the mandatory sentence during a hearing in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after previously being found guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the death of 31-year-old Lonnie Burns of Dubuque. Johnson’s trial began with jury selection on Nov. 28, and the jury reached its verdict on Dec. 5 after roughly 75 minutes of deliberation.
