On Friday, the Grant County Sheriff’s office received a report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 11. When a deputy arrived on the scene, they found that 65 year old Deborah Symons of East Dubuque was eastbound in her vehicle when she was attempting to pull into the driveway of a residence on Highway 11. Symons was delivering a package to an address on Highway 11 as she works for Amazon. Meanwhile 71 year old Robert Brinker of Lena was also eastbound on Highway 11 in his vehicle. Brinker was behind Symons and went to pass in the passing zone but he did not see Symons’ turn signal until the last minute and he was unable to avoid a collision. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and neither person was seriously injured. Both vehicles had disabling damage. Brinker was cited for unsafe cutting while passing and Symons was cited for having a suspended driver’s license.
