Free water taxis will be available for residents to get across the Mississippi River from Wisconsin to Iowa in Place of the Black Hawk Bridge, which is undergoing repairs. Starting Monday, free water taxis are planning on ferrying people across the river while the Black Hawk Bridge in Lansing is closed. Van shuttle drivers will be taking passengers to their final destination once they arrive at Lansing Marina or at Big Slough Boat Landing on the other side of the river. Organizers believe it will be a huge benefit to the area. The water taxis, which are weatherproof, are available seven days a week from 7- 10 a.m., 11-1 p.m., and 3-6 p.m. A one way trip could take about 30 minutes. They’ve set up three parking and ground shuttle areas, two in Iowa and one on the Wisconsin side of the river.
