The Wisconsin DNR is warning hunters ahead of the upcoming gun deer hunt. The agency says a tricky situation has developed with the recent snow and cold. DNR Safety Warden Darren Kuhn says the ground is completely saturated. The water has no place to go, creating ice, which hasn’t happened for opening weekend in a long time. Wardens say hunters who go to low-lying areas, like swamps and marshes, need to be careful. Any ice that has formed is thin and concealed by snow. They suggest hunters check their hunting properties this weekend to identify any dangerous areas before the gun deer season opens November 23.
