The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has announced how much general school aid districts will get during this school year. The agency released the certified totals Thursday – which were adjusted from July’s estimate after districts reported fall enrollments. Compared to last year’s aid, Lancaster Community Schools saw a 12% increase in funding to almost $7.5-million dollars. The Platteville school district had an 8.4% increase, bringing their state funding to just over $9-million dollars. School districts in Benton, Cassville, Darlington and Dodgeville saw increases between 6-and-8% compared to last year. Most other area districts had funding increases of 3% or less. The state biennial budget increased funding for general school aid this year by 3.5% – which equals a $163-million dollar increase – to a total of $4.9 billion.
