A 57-year-old Madison man was rescued from mud up to his shoulders after attempting to access a fishing location at the creek crossing Blynn Road in Arena Thursday morning. The man had been stuck for approximately an hour before a passerby noticed him. Due to the unstable terrain, rescue crews utilized specialized rescue techniques and equipment to safely reach and extract the victim. A local realtor who was passing by provided several of his real estate signs, which responders used to help stabilize the muddy ground and create a safer working surface. After a collaborative effort involving multiple agencies, the victim was successfully freed from the mud in a little over an hour. He was evaluated and treated at the scene and was subsequently released without requiring transport to a medical facility.
