Two charged following Benton traffic stop

Two people were charged following a traffic stop in Benton. Saturday evening 38-year-old Arthur L. Eleby of Calumet Park IL was cited for Operating After Suspension (OAS) and Open Intoxicants on E Main ST in Benton. Eleby’s passenger, 38-year-old Charles A. Gibson of Worth IL was arrested for Possession of Cocaine, Possession of THC, and Resisting Arrest. Gibson was transported to Lafayette County Jail where he was booked and remains. Gibson was also cited for Open Intoxicants.
