No injuries and cat rescued in Dubuque fire

The Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call Saturday  evening reporting smoke and fire coming from the roof of a multi-family structure on 4th street.  The fire was brought under control within 5 minutes of arrival and one cat was rescued. Crews remained on the scene for approximately 60 minutes to complete salvage and overhaul and secure the structure. One occupant was displaced; all others were able to return to their units.  The fire was determined to be accidental due to improper disposal of smoking materials.  Losses were estimated at $25,000.
